BB
Anchor Boys
We have a busy and fun time with active and quiet games, quizzes,
crafts and stories.
Some of our games can be noisy as we rush around chasing each
other but there are also quieter games and quizzes. It doesn't
matter too much who wins! High jump and long jump give us a
challenge to improve each time.
We make things such as greetings cards for special occasions,
paper folding, HAMA® beads, badges and fridge magnets. We use all
sorts of materials - paper, card, plaster and paints.
We learn about God and the Christian life from our Bible stories
and often have questions to ask. We learn from other stories such as
Miles, the boy who causes so much trouble with his screw-driver. We
like poems, especially if they are about dinosaurs with long names!
In the summer we want to be outside so we go to one of the local
parks, to play on the swings, roundabouts and climbing frames.
We always behave towards the end of the evening - anyone who
doesn't is last to tuck shop!
Activity Scheme
Taking part in items during the evening count towards the
Activity Scheme. Each year, when successful in a number of activities a Boy
receives a badge; first green, then yellow and red in the third
year.
The activities are in the following groups
-
Body
Fit for Fun
Mind Think and Do
Spirit God and Me
Community Me and my World
Creativity - Make and Do
Special Events
We join other Anchor Boy groups in the area (S E Essex Battalion)
for parties and fun days. We have enjoyed times at Kids' Kingdom and
a long day exploring Wat Tyler Country Park.
The BB & GB Companies arrange joint events, sometimes with other
Church organisations such as Sunday School.
Anchor Boy Favourites
We all love playing "Duck, Duck, Goose". With "Sticky Toffee" we
hope the leaders will soon be worn out chasing us. But somehow they
seem able to catch every boy when they want to. Top craft is making
helicopters because we can let them fly into the hall from the
landing at the top of the stairs. Otherwise its anything we can take
home and give to our family.
