What is the Anchor Section?

Anchor section is for our youngest members of the Boys Brigade. The age group is from when they turn 5 to the end of school year 3.

What We Do

In Anchors we have a busy and fun time with active and quiet games, loud games, quizzes, crafts and stories. It doesn't matter too much who wins! Lots of games we play give us a challenge to improve each time. We all love playing "the skittle game". With "Sticky Toffee" we hope the leaders will soon be worn out chasing us. But somehow they seem able to catch every child when they want to. Top craft is making helicopters because we can let them fly into the hall from the landing at the top of the stairs. Otherwise its anything we can take home and give to our family.

We learn about God and the Christian life from our Bible stories and often have lots of questions to ask.

In the summer we want to be outside so we go to one of the local parks, to play on the swings, roundabouts and climbing frames.

Each year an anchor member can achieve a Badge. They do this by taking part in various activities throughout the year, from the following zone.

  • Body - fit for fun
  • Mind - think and do
  • Spirit - God and me
  • Community - me and my world
  • Creativity - make and do

As with all sections within the Boys Brigade there is a uniform, which for us consists of a compulsory Polo Shirt, and an optional sweatshirt.

The advancement of Christ's Kingdom amongst young poeple and the promotion of habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian character.
